Triathlon is a sport where for some athletes every second does count. Like Penny Slater our Professional Triathlete. And for those performance-focused age group athletes amongst us who are, in fact, racing for the top rung and thus marginal gains from tweaking their bike position, disc wheels, the latest aero helmets and kit matters. So we made a suit that matters too.
A suit that contributes meaningfully to performance.
Introducing our new Verdante AERO FUSION flyfront triathlon suit.
The Verdante AERO FUSION is not as just another run of the mill suit. Verdante is a kit engineered with intention, precision and measurable results. Read on for the science behind Verdante.
Dominate every leg of your next race with a suit that’s engineered for speed, built for full race comfort, and proven to give you the edge when seconds count. This kit has been designed especially to enhance performance during the bike leg at the suit level by combining the best in fabric technology and comfort. Penny Slater wore this combination during her blistering 7th place at the recent IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France. The suit also tested superior to a number of competitor brands in the wind-tunnel.
Look, we'll be honest. You can get much greater aero gains by dialling in your bike position and running aero wheels and helmet. But aero gains attributable to your kit do count, and for PRO's and pointy end age-groupers, 1.5sec/km matters. So does comfort! You can be the most aero person out there, but if you can't hold that position comfortably for 180km it means nothing.
Enter your kit - you want it to be the perfect combo of aero AND comfort. Research suggests that the use of particular advanced suit textiles in the zones of highest resistance, such as the upper arms, can lead to notable reductions in aerodynamic drag (CdA), at even moderate sustained speeds like 30-35km/hr. The latest research using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods and wind-tunnel experiments suggests that by carefully selecting and placing a textured textile - such as our honeycomb woven mesh - on the sleeves, drag may be reduced by over 6% in real-world environmental conditions over other fabrics that contain horizontal or vertical groove lines that remain perpendicular or parallel to a perceived wind direction. Additionally, further research suggests that a suit built with textured fabrics on the arms had the lowest drag compared to suits with smoother textiles (see references).
With the zone of highest drag thus taken care of, that leaves the rest of the suit zones - front, back and sides to maximise thermal management. We've incorporated premium Italian textured textiles that are engineered to keep you comfortable, cool and dry. Research is still out on which textiles have the greatest impact on reducing drag on high cadence legs. Based on current data, we've run with a sleek and smooth seamless finish. Our all new French knit textile with an integrated silicon gripper ensures muscular support with an evenly firm compression throughout the duration of your race. Trust us when we say we're keeping a very close eye on this emerging data!
So if you are looking for a fast and comfy suit backed by the most recent aero tech data, at the best price, this is your new kit.
